    • Silk Handkerchief Shirt

    • Description

This beautiful shirt is made using the pintuck shibori dying technique. Similar to tie dye, 'shibori' is the Japanese term for dying a pattern into fabric. To make this shirt, thin thread is delicately woven through the fabric and pulled tight to make tiny pleats. The fabric is then wound around a large pole which is lifted into the vat of dye. The dye cannot penetrate through the pleats, so once the fabric has dried, the thread is removed, creating an intricate and irregular pattern. With roll back three quarter sleeves, collar neckline and a flowing handkerchief hem.

      • "This turned up like screwed up rag, I had to iron it before I could see how it draped. Lovely colour, teal, but it is so big that I had to send it back. I also didnt think it looked like £170 worth."Would you recommend it? : No
      • Hello Vanessa, thank you for kindly reviewing the Silk Handkerchief shirt. We are sorry that the shirt arrived creased. As it is a very lightweight silk, it can fall to the bottom of the bag resulting in a crumpled item. The technique to produce the pintuck detail in this garment takes many skilled hours. Similar to tie dye, 'shibori' is the Japanese term for dying a pattern into fabric. Therefore the price would reflect this level of time and work. Kind Regards by EAST customer services

      • "I chose the teal colour which is beautiful, in my normal size. The blouse is light as a feather to wear and although it is silk, such is the weave that I do not think it will crease. I am looking forward to taking it on holiday and am pleased I splashed out. A stunning addition to my wardrobe."Would you recommend it? : Yes
