Pack smart for summer

Whether you’re jetting away for a weekend escape or planning your long summer break, our top tips should help you arrive unruffled.

Make a list:
You might think you know exactly what you need to take away, but nothing beats a quick checklist. List the essentials in a stylish little notebook you can slip into your new holiday handbag.

Pick a standout suitcase:
Avoid that frenzied moment trying to locate your little black suitcase from amidst a sea of other little black suitcases. Invest in luggage that’s bright and bold and you’ll spot it straight away.

Know your weight (your luggage, not you):
With all the weight restrictions on flights, it pays to plan ahead and check your suitcase weight before you arrive at the airport. DIY luggage scales are the cheap and easy way to avoid an excess baggage charge.

Roll don’t fold:
Lay clothes out flat, then gently roll them into a nice smooth Swiss roll shape so they stay wrinkle free in transit. Better still pack a few crease proof holiday essentials, like our pretty and floaty Anokhi print crinkle skirt.

Stock up on accessories:
When you need to pack light, a good stock of colourful accessories will give you a few extra outfit options. One simple linen dress can be worn lots of different ways with the right necklace, bracelet or scarf.

Stack up your bras:
Fold bras carefully so that one cup sits neatly inside the other, then stack them up to stop the clasps snagging any delicate items in your case.

Cover your shoes:
Packing grubby outdoor shoes next to your favourite crisp white shirt is a bad idea. Old-fashioned shower caps make excellent shoe protectors and you can use them over and over.

Delicates inside out:
When packing up pale coloured clothes, turn them inside out first. Dirty spots and smudges are best kept on the inside where people are less likely to spot them.

Secure loose ends:
By loose ends we mean those endless wires, cables, plugs and adapters modern life loads us up with. Treat yourself to a handy pouch bag and keep them all safely in one place so they don’t get lost.

Seal beauty bottles:
To safeguard against spillages, seal lids with a square of cling film and a strip of sticky tape. It will only take you a couple of minutes – far less time than you’ll spend rinsing shower cream out of your hairbrush.

Suitcase packed? Your adventure can now begin...
